"Hacking your way to Personalized Learning" will give participants an overview of the Colorado PL project, teach them how to design hacks, work with students to iterate and improve those hacks, and walk away with a new skill to test in their own school.

Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) is leading a cohort of four school districts in Colorado that are working on deepening their Personalized Learning (PL) strategies throughout their schools. Each district has an elementary, middle, and high school participating. As part of the PL project, schools are engaging in mindset work, learning new practices, and implementing strategies at scale. CEI also partners with the Stanford d.school on implementing School Retool in the state. One component of the process is learning how to use hacking to test out ideas. We trained educators on how to use hacks in their classrooms to advance their PL goals while incorporating student voice.

Participants will learn from one of our district partners first hand about how this project is working in their district. They will learn what hacking is and how they can use it in their classrooms. They'll also get to work with students and see how their feedback can quickly improve an idea and give them agency in their learning.
