Escalator to Excellence & Equity Den with Eric Martin
Limited Capacity filling up

Equity Fellow: Eric Martin, Principal at Winton Woods High School
Facilitated by Big Picture Learning & The Internationals Network for Public Schools,  the Equity and Excellence Escalator (E3)invites attendees to think critically about high quality, equitable learning environments for ALL students. The Equity and Excellence Escalator will share the Capstone Action Projects of the Deeper Learning Equity Fellows. Fellows are immersed in a design process aimed at creating interventions that address barriers and mindsets that perpetuate inequity in the American public education system.  The structural inequities that characterize many schools today give all Americans an inherently inequitable education system that cripples 21st century possibilities for plurality and democracy. The Deeper Learning Equity Fellows examine the varied barriers to equitable opportunities for deeper learning and develop individual or group projects to address them. E3 will be an opportunity to hear about the fellows projects: in a den-like setting, the fellows will share their progress to date and request feedback from attendees on equity capstone projects they’ve begun designing and implementing . Offered on Day One of DL2018, the Equity and Excellence Escalator (E3) is the place to be for attendees who are passionate about approaches and pathways for transforming schools and school systems into engines for the more equitable world we work to leave our children.

Part lounge, part studio, the Deep Dive Den (D3) invites attendees to learn from educational leaders. One of the goals of the deeper learning conference is to propel the deeper learning movement by connecting attendees to inspirational ideas and people. Den talks aim to be a conversational style talk where a pair of educational leaders interview one another about a topic that is of importance to their organization, the deeper learning movement or perhaps to the future of education. No slide decks no prepared talks–just conversations on what matters most.
